Our story and purpose

Dr. Ken Merrifield is a pastor, church planter, mentor and ministry leader with more than thirty years of experience serving churches and communities in the United States and internationally.

Throughout his ministry, he has been passionate about helping people grow in Christ, strengthening local churches and equipping leaders for effective service.

Alongside his wife and family, Ken spent ten years serving in Romania. During this period, they ministered among HIV-positive children, supported vulnerable families and participated in church planting efforts. These experiences shaped his lifelong commitment to compassionate ministry and cross-cultural missions.

Ken has also served with the Christian Association of Youth Mentors, helping churches and organizations establish mentoring ministries and develop effective strategies for reaching the next generation.

Ken and his wife, Janet, have six children, including children welcomed through adoption and foster care, and fourteen grandchildren. Together, they remain committed to serving Christ, strengthening the Church and investing in future generations.

Janet was born and raised in southwest Dallas County. She is a certified Special Education teacher with seventeen years of experience in Burleson, Midlothian, Tyler, Cumberland Gap and Waxahachie school districts.

She has a heart for children who come from difficult circumstances and has cared for children around the world with patience, compassion and love.

Her experience includes serving as a foster parent, working with HIV-positive children, mentoring children from coal-mining communities, supporting young mothers and working with children who have special needs.

Janet understands the challenges experienced by families with special needs children when attending church. She is committed to creating a loving and inclusive environment with sensory rooms, quiet spaces and practical support for children and families.
